About Matthew Pace

DSC_2758-smI have lived in Destin since 1999 while serving in AmeriCorps and have been a proud city resident even while attending college at the University of West Florida in Pensacola. Although I wasn’t born here, I consider Destin to be my home and I want to work with the residents as your Public Advocate promoting advocacy, accountability, and action.

“Effective communication is key when working with people and the community.”

I am an executive professional with a proven record of accomplishment in business, marketing, public speaking and community involvement. My leadership skills have been enhanced throughout my career and have become one of my greatest assets. Currently I am the President/CEO of Pace PC Solutions, a local IT and Consulting Company with a national reach. I work with many professionals throughout the country to ensure IT and technological services are running smoothly.

I started my career with the New York State Education Department as a Technology Consultant while attending college at SUNY Ulster where I received a degree in Mass Communications and a degree in Liberal Arts.

I joined AmeriCorps in 1999 and was stationed in the Destin Area. I was fortunate  enough to make Destin, Florida my home and residence during my service. After over 1700 hours of community service in the program, I was awarded a grant to continue my education at the University of West Florida. I received a BA in Communications and graduated Cum Laude in 2002. While attending school at UWF I was a member of Gamma Beta Phi, a national honor society. I was also nominated and became a candidate for Mr. UWF. Working as a Supervisor for the University Advancement department, I helped to raise funds for the university in excess of $90,000. I was accepted into the graduate program for communications and studied at UWF until making the decision to move back to Destin in 2003 to further my career efforts.

“With years of business and service experience under my belt, I am ready to serve my community.”

I have worked with many organizations throughout the region including Habitat for Humanity, American Cancer Society and the Okaloosa Reading Council. In 2009 I served as the Destin area CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) Chief. I completed the Okaloosa County CERT training as well as awarded a certificate of achievement from the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA for the completion of CERT training. I completed the Advanced CERT Academy training at the Florida State level as well in 2009.

As a Destin resident and individual working towards Public Advocacy, I am hoping to help, along with other residents, to keep the City of Destin clean and ensure that the city residents benefit in the many important decisions the city has to consider.
